About The Brides' Project
It is a Toronto-based service that is engaged in a very noble cause. It sells donated bridal outfits and accessories, and all the profits go to cancer charities. It supports and patronizes several charities that fund cancer patients’ treatment, research, and financial support to the deceased’s family. In 2019 it donated US$165,000 to charities, and last year, despite all the backlash of Covid-19, it managed to donate US$70,000 to its social causes.
It started its operations in 2004. It was the brainchild of Ms. Helen Sweet, who herself is a wedding officiant. She wanted something that would bring money to support cancer patients. She had seen many people with cancer and wanted to make her bid to help those who could not afford its costly treatment.
It has provided a 24/7 drop box at its office located in Toronto. You can drop your wedding dress and accessories in it if you live in the city or nearby. For people living far off, you can use mail and courier services for this purpose. It does not accept dresses that were purchased or used before 2018. It also does not accept dresses for bridesmaids, flower girls, etc. You can download the form from their website regarding the donations and get to know all the terms. For people interested in buying those outfits, you will have to book an appointment first and then purchase. You can pre-select the gowns from their Shopify account to save time. It also offers an online purchase option because of Covid-19. You will have to alter or clean the dress yourself if it is required.
