About The Soul Shakers
The Soul Shakers not only possess a wealth of musical talent, they know how to put on a show-stopping performance that will have you and your guests dancing the night away and coming away with life-long cherished memories. They cover music from some of our time's great musicians, including Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Marvin Gaye, Pharrell Williams, Adele and George Michael. They cover various genres from the 50s to today's top 40, rock, R&B, Soul, Oldies and Motown.
The Soul Shakers have been entertaining around the Victoria area for over ten years and have a unique fusion of funky R&B and dance music. The band consists of Joyce "the voice" Allenson whose considered one of the leading blues/soul vocalists in Western Canada. She's worked with notable acts such as 605, Double Image, Mr Puffy, and Soul Station. Adding the rhythm on the bass is Henning. Originally from Copenhagen, he has played with legends such as Pat Travers. Providing the beat is Paul on the drums, who started as a triple-platinum album band Showdown. Sean plays on the guitar and has travelled to Canada and the US with showbands. Sean also sings with preschoolers two mornings a week. Keyboard player Alexander Ferguson has worked with many theatre companies, including Kaleidoscope, Blackbird and Gateway theatres.
The Soul Shakers can use their musical knowledge to learn new songs so that you can include any special requests to make your day personalized for you. They are happy to travel and can provide sample performances. They provide reception music and equipment such as microphones, a sound/PA system and music during breaks.
The Soul Shakers are also available to perform at other events such as concerts, festivals, nightclubs and private events.
