About St James Theatre

Théâtre St-James is located in the heart of Old Montreal, close to Notre-Dame Basilica. With its huge event area, it offers couples big glamorous weddings. It was formerly the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), giving it a strategic location bearing in Montreal. The renovations done on the building transformed it into one of Montreal’s most prestigious multi-purpose event spaces. Its soaring ceilings, towering columns, and marble floors make for a stunning and unique wedding venue.

Facilities and Capacity

● The Imperial Ballroom is a 7,000 square foot space that seats up to 550 guests and 700 guests in a cocktail setting. It has marble floors, 70 feet high stone walls, with a suspended stained-glass dome. Installed is a state-of-the-art lighting, sound and projection system with an adjustable portable stage. The original safe is a backdrop for a champagne room, lounge, or photo-booth, and the president's office and Annex ideal for a coffee lounge, bar area, sweet table, or a VIP suite.
● White Star Vault Room on the lower level caters up to 300 seated guests and 600 guests in a cocktail format. There is a grand staircase or an elevator that gives access to this room. It has a large vault and safety deposit cubicles, a backdrop for the cloakroom, scotch bar, art display, or lounge area.
● The Princess Grace Mezzanine located on the second floor looks out onto The Imperial Ballroom, ideal for hosting intimate events. It has beautiful hardwood floors and ceilings 20 feet high with five balconies that give stunning views of Old Montreal’s Saint-Jacques Street.
